Worship
Community prayer and worship are at the heart of what we do at St. Andrew's. At least once a week, we gather together to hear God's word proclaimed in scripture, song, and sermon, and to celebrate Christ's presence among us in the sacrament of Holy Communion.
Our primary way of worshipping is through the service of Holy Communion found in the Episcopal (Anglican) Book of Common Prayer. Our corporate worship is different from the way we may pray at home as individuals or families. It takes all of us to make it happen well. The best way to be involved is by joining us for worship on Sunday morning. You are also welcome to serve as an acolyte, lay reader, usher, altar guild member or choir member.
Sunday 8:00 am Eucharist
The 8:00 am service is a simple Eucharist without hymns. The Rite 1 form of service is used.
Sunday 10:30 am Eucharist
The 10:30 am Eucharist includes music: both hymns and an anthem sung by the choir. The Rite 2 form of service is used.
Childrens' Sunday School continues in parallel with the service with the children rejoining their parents at the Peace. A professionally staffed Nursery is available for children through age 3.
A recording of each Sunday morning service is available on request. Call the Church Office at 301-864-8880.
Sunday 6:30 pm Eucharist
Sponsored jointly by St. Andrew's and the Episcopal/Anglican Campus Ministry, the 6:30 pm Eucharist takes place every Sunday during the academic year (September through May). All are welcome to join the students of the University of Maryland and the young adults of College Park. The service varies among Rite 1, Rite 2, and other Eucharistic liturgies.
